Pilates Classes

Pilates got its name from Joseph Pilates who developed his own exercise programme and theories in the early twentieth century. It gained popularity after chartered physiotherapists in Australia researched and discovered the importance of core stability in the treatment and prevention of low back and pelvic pain. We now use a modified version of some of his exercises as our knowledge of the human body has improved since he first started the exercise regime.
We have been teaching Pilates at Ashbourne Physiotherapy Clinic since 2002 and all our instructors are chartered physiotherapists. This means that they have an in-depth knowledge of the muscle system and injuries, as well as being trained Pilates instructors. Please do let us know in advance if you have a back, neck or pelvic problem or if you are pregnant or have recently given birth. All you need to do is to wear loose-fitting clothing – we supply everything else!
We also have a GOLF PILATES class specifically for the golfer! Amateur or professional, this course will equip you with strength, rotation, stability and balance, all the necessary ingredients for your golf. Linda has been teaching Pilates for 8 years and has trained in Scotland with Ramsey McMaster who is recognised as a leading authority in golf physiotherapy.
Our classes run for six weeks and each class lasts for one hour. If you can't make your class and you let us know in advance (please give enough notice so that we can accommodate someone else), you can do a catch-up class at a different time so you will get to do all the classes for which you have paid.
All attendees in our Beginner Classes receive weekly handouts to help them practise their exercises at home.
